Konokanang

Privacy

Konokanang is built by people who think most apps collect far too much and explain far too little. This page says what we hold, what never leaves your phone, and what you can ask us to do about any of it.

Last updated 5 September 2026.

Who is responsible for your data

Konokanang is operated by Open Lab Technologies Ltd. We are registered in England & Wales under company number 16048685, at Pa103 Technology Centre, Wolverhampton Science Park, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, WV10 9RU, United Kingdom.

For anything on this page - including any request about your data - write to info@openlabtechnologies.com.

This website

This site is both the public homepage and a signed-in web app. You can create an account, sign in, view a baby’s timeline, and log core entries (sleep, feed, nappy, medicine) from a browser. The mobile app remains the full product; the web surface is intentionally basic.

When you sign in on the web we set an httpOnly session cookie so we know it is you. We set no advertising cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous page-view counts on this site; it does not follow you around the internet for advertising.

As with any website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs that can include IP addresses. They exist to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to build a profile of you.

Share links (handover, care summary, nursery pack) open without an account. Anyone with the link can see that scoped page until it expires or is revoked.

What the app holds

What you log - feeds, sleep, nappies, medicine, growth, notes - is your family’s record. We hold it so it can sync between the people who look after your baby, and so the app can show you patterns in it. We do not use it to advertise to you, and we do not sell it.

Everyone you invite as a caregiver can see and add to that baby’s record. That is the point of the feature, so invite people accordingly - you can remove someone’s access at any time.

Automated analysis (plain disclosure)

Konokanang uses automated pattern recognition over the logs you and your caregivers write. Next-sleep and next-feed suggestions, ranked “why might they be crying” lists, and similar guidance are produced from your baby’s own recorded rhythm and published age-based ranges - not from a human reviewing each moment. Order in a ranked list is the only confidence signal we show; we do not display accuracy percentages or a single diagnosis.

Cry audio is not used today to diagnose why a baby is crying. Short clips may be recorded on your device so you can play them back; any future acoustic analysis would only run if you explicitly opt in to upload, and would still be disclosed here and in the app before it ships. This disclosure is intended to meet the transparency expectations of the EU AI Act (Article 50) for systems that analyse behaviour patterns.

Recordings stay on your phone

Recordings of your baby crying are the most sensitive thing Konokanang touches, so the default is the strict one: they stay on your device.

If you want suggestions that take the sound into account, sending recordings to us is a separate, explicit choice you make on its own. It is never bundled into terms you accepted at sign-up, and you can change your mind at any point without losing anything else.

You can delete every recording from inside the app, in one place, without contacting anyone to ask.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We process your family’s records to provide the service you asked us for - that is, to perform our contract with you. Where you choose to send us recordings, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like.

Our technical logs rely on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning service.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data, rent it, share it with advertisers, or pass it to data brokers. We never will - that is a condition of the product existing, not a policy we expect to revisit. Konokanang carries no advertising on any plan.

We do use service providers to run the service (for example hosting and payment processing). They act on our instructions only and cannot use your data for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep your records for as long as you have an account. Delete your account and we delete them. You can export your logs first, and we would rather you did - they are yours.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or have it sent to you in a portable form. You can object to our processing, and withdraw any consent you have given.

Email info@openlabtechnologies.com and we will action it. You do not need to give a reason, and asking costs you nothing.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Children's data

Konokanang is for adults to use about the children in their care. The records are about your baby, and you control them on your child’s behalf. We handle them with that in mind: minimum collection, no profiling for advertising, and no sharing beyond the caregivers you choose.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
